1. To become an architectural IOW requires a diploma or degree (or equivalent) in architectural science, architectural technology, building science or building technology or other related fields of study approved by LAM, followed by a recognized working experience depending on the designated level of the IOW.
   1. Graduate from a MQA (Malaysian Qualifying Agency) recognised Diploma of Architectural Technology or Diploma of Science (Architecture) or any other program accepted by the Board and
   2. Has obtained the practical experience as prescribed by the Board (2 years); a or
      1. Graduate from any Diploma of Architectural Technology or Diploma of Science(Architecture), or any other programme accepted by the Board; and
      2. Has obtained the practical experience as prescribed by the Board (2 years); and
      3. Passed the examination and interview as may be determined by the Board.
         
         
2. Criteria for registration of existing COW as IOW
   1. Has the required practical experience as prescribed by the Board (5 years) supported by relevant work records
   2. Passed the Interview conducted by the Board on the working experience
   3. Attended the required additional courses as prescribed by the Board after the interview
      
      
3. Application for registration as an Architectural Inspector of Works must be submitted in the prescribed Registration Form together with the following :
   1. 2 copies of recent photographs
   2. a copy of Identity Card / Passport
   3. a copy of SPM or O level equivalent
   4. a copy of STPM (HSC), A-Level /Foundation/Matriculation or the equivalent
   5. Certificates (if any)
   6. Diplomas (if any)
   7. Construction related degrees
   8. Copies of Yearly Examination Transcripts
   9. Examination Certificate (where relevant)
   10. Separate payment for Registration fee amount of RM 300.00 and RM 100.00 for processing fee
       
       
4. All documents submitted must be certified as true copies by a Professional Architect registered with the Board
   
   
5. For Registration, please submit IOW Application Form together with IOW log book.
